During the annual planning for 2008, it was decided that Claremont Primary School should get a computer centre!
The headmaster, “oom Dick”, confessed (much later) that he had been praying for this for a long time.
During one of the Koningskinders meetings Hilda Potgieter arrived and said: “My mom, Magda, works at Wits and they want to donate 60 (“cutting edge”) computers to a school!
A suitable spot was organised: A classroom with burglar proofing, sliding doors, locks and security – a bit like Alcatraz.
Tables were built in, chairs were added and the fresh coat of paint had its own charm.
All that remained was the electricity for the computers and the room was finished, a testimony to excellence!
Then it was time for the computers and off we went to Wits with “Venter trailers”, minibuses and children. Everybody stood in a looooonnnnngggg row and the computers were passed, from one hand to the next, to the trailers. Upon arrival at Claremont Primary School the same process was repeated, through the hands of these children of the KING, that is to say Koningskinders.
The computers were in and an unveiling ceremony held – ribbon and all.
Prof. Laquet and Magda Potgieter of Wits also joined us (she and Hilda both sent from ABOVE).
Who would have thought that the Lord would let this R80 000 project fall into our laps so easily. Yeah, we BELIEVE!
Thank you to the Gereformeerde Kerke Linden and Randburg for all the contributions and also to everybody the Lord used in this endeavour. TO HIM BE THE GLORY!
